Dupuytren’s Disease

In the Operating Room (OR):

  • Depending on wound size, apply plaster positioning splint.

Day 1:

  • Dressing change, fat gauze, and “cloud” compression dressing until Day 5.
  • Remove Redon drain.
  • Active movement exercises.

From Day 2 onward:

  • Active and cautious passive movement exercises (daily physiotherapy, hand bath).
  • Instruction on home exercises.
  • Stretching splint (“Quengelschiene”) for pronounced contractures as directed by the surgeon.

Day 5:

  • Interim compression glove.

Day 14:

  • Suture removal.

From Week 3 onward:

  • Physiotherapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) for 2–6 weeks, depending on mobility.
  • Independent movement exercises.
  • Scar care/massage, if necessary silicone sheet inserts inside the glove.
